Previously, Mr. Avigad was associated with Kaplan Law, LLC, in  St. Louis, from 2001 to April, 2016, wherein he conducted litigation, contract drafting and business consulting for clients in the construction, services and real estate industries. He tried multiple cases to verdict, including complex litigation, commonly in the six figure range. He worked on countless arbitration, mediation matters and conflict resolution matters. He defended attorney malpractice and breach of Non-competition agreement claims. He further acted as an expert witness to address the best practices in the St. Louis legal community. He provided local counsel for certain fortune 500 companies, and addressed employment, ERISA and labor matters. He acted as counsel for the local Carpenters’ Union and one of St. Louis’ largest electrical contractors. He prosecuted multiple roofing and contractor claims. He litigated employment and discrimination disputes on behalf of both plaintiffs and defending companies. He filed multiple Mechanics’ Liens claims, and brought such cases to verdict. He practiced in Missouri and Illinois courts and multiple federal courts across the country, including Florida, Pennsylvania, Montana.

Mr. Avigad also has private sector experience. He acted as general counsel for WorkNet Communications, in St. Louis, MO,  from 1999-2001. He started as Assistant General Counsel, then became General Counsel for multi-million dollar wireless internet start-up firm with offices in five cities. He further acted as litigation manager, negotiator, and finalized all key contracts, and participated in regulatory work.

Mr. Avigad has prior big firm experience. He was employed by Gallop, Johnson & Neuman, in St. Louis, MO, from 1997 -1999 as an associate. During his time with said firm he was the associate with most trial experience in the firm. He tried arbitration and court claims against DaimlerChrysler and other large companies. He was often the primary associate on multiple complex litigation matters. He was also the first associate of the firm to try an attorney malpractice case for a plaintiff in the firm’s history. Additionally, he handled criminal fraud matters, breaches of contract and aviation accident defense.

Prior to moving permanently to St. Louis, Mr. Avigad practiced in Chicago, Illinois, including with the firm Schuyler, Roche & Zwirner, from 1996 to1997. During this period he anchored a complex litigation team which oversaw multi-million dollar litigation involving one of Chicago’s largest personally owned companies. He further guided a privately held corporation though sudden transition of corporate officers by acting as company in-office attorney.

While in Chicago, Mr. Avigad was also employed by Moss & Hillison, Chicago, as an associate, from 1995 to 1996 (when the firm disbanded).  During that time, Mr. Avigad tried over 12 jury trials and received specialty trial training with Chicago’s most active trial firm.
